SMU Verts
I am deeply passionate about sustainability and environmental advocacy. My journey in championing these causes began in 2021 when I joined SMU Verts, a dynamic environmental sustainability club. Over the years, my commitment to fostering positive change in environmental practices has only intensified. In 2023, I took on the responsibility of Marketing Director for the 22nd ExCo, where I actively contributed to the club's initiatives. Currently, in 2024, I am honored to serve as the President for the 23rd ExCo, leading our efforts to promote sustainable practices and inspire meaningful environmental impact. My dedication to sustainability fuels my drive to make a difference, and I am excited about the transformative initiatives we are set to undertake.
Sustainability Bingo
The "Bingo Event" is designed to elevate the visibility and engagement of SMU VERTS within the SMU Instagram community. With the objectives of attracting new students to join SMU Verts and fostering an increased awareness of sustainable practices, the event is strategically crafted. It aims to not only introduce students to SMU Verts as the official sustainability club at SMU but also to inspire them to continue incorporating sustainable habits into their daily lives. Through this interactive initiative, we aspire to create a lasting impact on the student community, encouraging a collective commitment to a more sustainable future.
Nature Walk
The "Nature Walk Event" planned by SMU Verts is a captivating initiative aimed at actively engaging SMU students in the lush surroundings of the Singapore Botanic Gardens. This immersive experience, combining a nature walk with a treasure hunt concept, is designed to heighten awareness about SMU Verts and impart knowledge on sustainability through enjoyable activities set amidst nature. By organizing this amazing race cum nature walk event, SMU Verts aspires to create a dynamic and interactive platform for participants to learn about sustainability while enjoying the benefits of exercise and the serene beauty of the natural environment.
World Water Day
The "World Water Day Event" organized by SMU Verts is a significant initiative aimed at informing and educating students about Singapore's water procurement methods and the precious nature of water as a vital resource. The interactive booth will focus on Singapore's 4 National Taps, offering students valuable insights into water conservation. Attendees will also have the opportunity to share reflections on water's significance in their lives. The overarching goal is to inspire participants to take proactive steps in reducing water wastage, fostering a heightened awareness of the importance of water conservation.
Coastal Cleanup
The "Coastal Cleanup" initiative spearheaded by SMU Verts during the Climate Action Week in July to address marine pollution and diminish the impact of plastic and waste on our oceans and beaches. The cleanup serves as a powerful vehicle for raising awareness within the community.
Sustainability Fireside Chat
The "Sustainability Fireside Chat Series - SMU's Blueprint for Sustainability" offers students a unique forum to discuss creating a greener university, focusing on sustainable campus practices, procurement, and investments. Beyond gaining insights into SMU's sustainability initiatives, students can voice their concerns and explore their roles in making the campus more eco-friendly. It's an engaging session fostering collaboration and shared responsibility for a sustainable university community.
